Cliff Avril Jersey is out indefinitely with a neck/spine injury

Demaryius Thomas is four inches taller and has roughly 40 pounds on teammate Emmanuel Sanders, but it’s the latter who has become the Broncos’ preferred target near the goal line since the start of last season. Last year, Sanders led the team with 14 end zone targets and a 7.6 OTD, while Thomas handled eight end zone targets and posted a 6.0 OTD. This season has followed a similar trend. Sanders (2.0 OTD, three EZ targets) has two touchdowns and Thomas (1.0, 1) has none. Thomas certainly will find the end zone a handful of times down the stretch, but it’s no fluke that his touchdown totals have dwindled in recent years. He’s a high-floor, low-ceiling WR2. Sanders is more volatile but also is in the WR2 mix.

The Seahawks are dealing with injuries to both of their starting defensive ends. Cliff Avril is out indefinitely with a neck/spine injury, and coach Pete Carroll did not rule out the possibility that he could miss the remainder of the season. Michael Bennett suffered a plantar fascia foot injury last Sunday and was really sore on Monday, according to Carroll. The Seahawks are on a bye this week, which won’t impact Avril’s status but should help Bennett’s chances of being available for Seattle’s Week 7 game against the Giants. He’s going to need these couple weeks here, Carroll said. Frank Clark is already starting and playing well in Avril’s absence. He would become even more important if Bennett also has to miss time. — Brady Henderson

Atlanta Hawks Jersey The Giants have had only three different GMs in 39 years. They believe in continuity at the position. That’s admirable. More teams should operate this way. But in the case of Reese, there’s just no case to support keeping him. They won’t let him go now, of course, as they believe in evaluating the season as a 16-game whole. But when this one ends, it’ll be time for the Giants to find a new GM.
